Natrual Farming : an alternative to organic farming
Now days if we think of anything natural first things that comes to our mind is that it would be a slow process. Also it may have less output than other artificial variants. But its not necessarily true.
Natural process are infact more robust. One of strong argument in favor would be that it has evolved over millions of years and has survived various changes and catastrophes. Same applies for farming s well.
Natural farming tries to use of all positive aspects of nature. For e.g. farmers use ploughing to soften soil. This enables roots to grow and spread easily. In natural farming earthworms and microbes available in soil do this work. Natural environment is created for them. Microbes and earth worms dwell in dark and humid climate. They need organic material as their feed. With this understanding in natural farming organic mulching is spread over soil. With mulching its block light from reaching soil surface. Also it gets ready organic as feed in form of mulch. Few extra ingredients can be added for maintaining this supply of feed. With microbes and earthworm being active at surface makes it soft enough for roots to spread.
To check this process practically tried to use some of this method in my house gardening. Had obtained some dried cow dung cakes. They are available in any shop that sells puja materials. Placed it at open patch of soil in our flower pot. Kept on watering it on daily basis. Since flowering plants are requires lot of water and that too should cover maximum of its roots, so have to file pot at least one inch at top with water. In this process even cow dung cake remains immersed for some time and got soften over period of time. After few days smashed those cow dung cakes and spread them evenly over the open surface. This acted as organic material. Also partially covered layer with dried leaves. After few days when I tilted soil found small earthworms on top layer. So natural process had started acting and that too in mater of few days.
Still climbing the ropes. But glad that one that I tried is successful that gives me enough motivation to keep the ball rolling.
Will stop the post at this point. And will be back with another interesting post in near future.
Till then Good Bye and keep making khayalipulav 😀
